It was not long then till a hare came up the man pulled trigger and the sixpence went whizzing through the air and struck it on the back. The fur came flying out of it's back and it ran for it's life so it never bothered them again.

    Willie G Toland
Told by Fanny Toland afed 54 years.
The following lines were written long ago to commemorate
an exploit of Shan Crossa at Dugiven, County Derry, where he
relieved an English Officer of his valuables and accoutrements
because the officer boasted that Shaun could not possibly
    succeed in so doing.

Shauns bold manoevres much talk afforded,
Of his exploits one I'll relate,
An English General, it is recorded,
Was robbed by Crossa one evening late.
    (2)
The Inn he called at he boasted greatly,
If he would meet with this robber bold,
He would arrest him and would convey him,
To Derry jail through heat or cold.
