One fine moonlight night Pat Doherty was coming home from a wake. It is said that it is not right to come home from a wake alone. He was very rich and had five fine cows in his byre. One of them gave a lot more milk than the others and he would not sell it no matter how much money he would get for it. As he walked on something wet hit him in the face. He turned to see what had hit him and he saw a little fairy. But the moment he saw it the fairy started to put out its tongue and mock him. "Stop that you vagabond you" said the man. Ill teach you for calling me a vagabond shouted the fairy angrily and walked away. When the man came home he went to the byre to milk his cows. But the best cow in the byre was lying dead.
