  1. One bright May morning when James Doherty was going along the road he saw an old woman sitting on a little mound. When he came nearer he heard her say "All ye smoke that I do see and all ye milk and butter coma coma to me. Then James said jokingly Share with me". He then went on his way and when he reached home he saw all his milk and butter flowing out of his door. He ran for the priest who came at once and blessed it. It stopped immediately and ever since that day the people put up a Maypole on May eve.
