    Whooping cough:-- Drink mare's milk; get a bit of bread and butter from a man and woman of the same name, who are married.
    Cuts:-- Fresh butter without salt.
    Sore throat:-- Take a drink of hot buttermilk and ginger or a drink of black currant jam.
