  1. About twenty years ago in the time of the great war there lived a poor woman in Clonmany, and she had a young child of about two years old.
    One day two soldiers came in to kill the child. The child was sleeping in the cradle and when it awoke it looked up and laughed at the soldier, and he said to the other that he would not kill it. The other man came up and turned the cradle over and killed the child.
