  1. About thirty years ago a man named Robert Scott lived in Cabadoey. Now Robert prided himself on being a poet of no mean order, and his favourite poem was "Cabadoey Brae's"
It was composed about a girl of great beauty whose name was Kitty Nelson, and whom Robert proposed to marry. The poem begins with an invitation to all who love Ireland.
Come all you true lovers of Erin's great shore.
Assist me in praising the girl I adore,
She is comely and handsome, polite in her ways
She's the star of the North and flower of the brae's
She is comely and handsome, polite in her ways
