    Over fifty years ago a neighbour of mine was then about ten years of age. He and his brother were herding the cattle on a piece of rough ground near the hill. Some old stunted trees grew on it (on it a-) and the children played round them and up in the branches. One day while playing the children broke a branch of one of the trees.
    The children thought nothing of it. But that night the broken branch played a fiddle to
