  1. A Local Fairy Tale.
    In the middle of the brickyard at Ture stood a lone oak tree which locally was supposed to be the home of fairies and to which they retired each night.
    When spreading the bricks to dry, the workmen were always careful to leave a pathway to the bottom of the tree, so that the fairies could get to their home without stepping on the bricks.
    A strike amongst the workers took place and the brickyard closed down. Shortly afterwards the yard was re-opened again under new management and new workmen were employed.
    These new men did not believe the tale about the fairies and the oak tree and when they were spreading the bricks to dry did not leave a pathway to the bottom of the tree. One night when the workers had gone home after spreading a batch of new bricks to dry, my great-grandfather and another man got two long sticks and on the end of each stick they nailed a dolls' foot.
    They went down to the brickyard and by the aid of the long sticks they put the tracks of the dolls' feet on the new bricks from the
