    Schools
    youths of the country side used to assemble in the townland of Tonduff in the house of John Mc Laughlin. Their teacher was James Mc Laughlin, Mullins.
    James Doherty, Kearan near Clonmany was Latin teacher, and he taught later to some young stedents who were going to be priests. He died John Gillespie, Liopkin was a latin teacher also and he taught the little boys that had to clerk mass Latin - he died.
    Michael Doherty of Gortleck was a latin teacher also. He went to America.

  2. Night schools
    Long ago there used to be a night school in Hillside Desertegney. Barney Porter and William Gibbons, Hillside, were the two men who used to teach the young boys and men in their own houses at night.
