  1. There are some holy wells round here. There is one in the gap of Mamore. A large number of people visit it on the 15th of August. There are twelve carns of stones beside this well. The people visit it and they go round each carn five times on their bare feet praying. They go ten times round the big carne. When they are leaving every carn they throw five stones on them. Then they are to leave some article belonging to them on this big carn. It was said to be blest by Colmcille. The people wash their feet hands and face in a brook beside the well. Then they take a drink out of a vesel that is in the well. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost Amen
