  1. In olden times the people had not candles as they have (now) now The candles which they had were made out of old fat. This was the way it was made. A lump of old fat was boiled in the fire until it run and then it was left to cool. Then it was rolled into a large round lump. A hole was made through the middle with a needle and a little piece of cord was put in it for a wick. Another kind of candle was made out of resin and it was got in the woods. It was made into a square
