    Some people put on sticks to keep the thatch tight on the roof. Some of them put on netting wire to keep the hens from tearing it off.Very few of them have spouting on to keep the water from running down the walls.

  2. About a generation ago women used to scrape a moss called Golden ban off rocks and take it home to use as dye. The oak bark of a tree was also used for the dye. Blackberries were also used. The Golden ban, the oak bark and the blackberries would be all boiled together.
