  1. The Mass Rocks remind us of the penal days when no priest was allowed to say Mass. At the risk of his life the priest would go behind rocks and celebrate the Mass. The people all followed him and when the priest was unable to say the Mass they all gathered round and said the Rosary. The Mass rocks can be seen yet.
    There is one in Mr Ned Donagheys field; and in the penal days Mass was said at that rock. In Mrs O Donnell's field there is another Mass Rock, and it is a few yards from the Cockhill School
