  1. On the night of the big wind in 1885 , the wind blew houses down and uprooted trees.
    During the storm , there was a three master schooner on the "Lough Swilly"
    The schooner had a cargo of guano and it was sunk by the storm . All the crew were drowned , except three , who escaped.
    One of the three who escaped , was a Dutchman , called "Yorgan" and he lived in the Main Street and was the blind organist of "Cockhill chapel , for years. Mr Yorgan's daughter is now married to a man called " Mr Vernard"
