  1. There is a field beside the railway to Carndonagh and it is called "Jarmy's field" because Jarmy Devlin was the nickname given to the owner.
    Cockhill is supposed to have got its name because long ago cockfighting used to be going on there.
    Umericam or the crooked ridge got its name because the road is crooked that goes past it.
    Buncrana or the mouth of the Crana is called because it is situated near the mouth of the Crana river.
    The Rockytown which is situated outside the town of Buncrana was believed to have got its name because some of the old peple said that there was a small town there and it was called the Rockytown and even yet many rocks are to be seen beside it.
