    The patron Saint of Desertegney is St Egney. The name of the district is called after St Egney name. There is a well dedicated to his honour. This well is called St Egneys well. People go to this well once a year and leave somthing at it every time they go to it or who go by it. The people go to this well and pray to St Egney.
