  1. One time there was a young man who had listed in the army. He wrote to his Parish priest to tell his father to buy him off the army and his father said "Let him stay there and it will make a man of him". A short time afterward his father died and left a sum of money to his son and the priest said to him , "Your father left you a good sum of money. You should give some for Mass as his soul might be in Purgatory." The son said, "If it be there let it be and it will make a man of him."
