  1. There was once a beggar who wanted lodgings. He went up to a farm house and asked for lodgings. The farmer said he would give him lodgings and a pound if he would sleep in his haunted house. So the beggar went went to the house. About twelve o'clock he was taking off his boots and a voice spoke and said, "There is nobody here but you and me". Then the beggar said, "If I had on my other boot there would be nobody here but you."
