  1. There was a big battle fought at Killia about two miles out of Carrigans between two men. They fought over a piece of land. Each man gathered his followers and they agreed to go to a certain field. They started to fight and men were killed on both sides but the man named John Devenny won the fight. One day when he was going past the other man's house he jumped off his bicycle and ran in and hit him on the head with a hammer and killed him. He never had any comfort since. he said that the dead man comes every night and wakens him.
