  1. They do not come often to our house and they do not stay very long. They come and show their and take a drop of tea and they they go away again. Sometimes we buy things from them. There is a man who comes from Derry. His name is Joe McBrearty. Whenever he comes to our house my mother always gives him his tea.
    Sometimes he is welcome. Some of the tinkers ride in carts and some of them walk. Some of them are very good story tellers and we gather in to hear them.
    My mother told me that once a beggar came and she gave him a pound of butter and a loaf of bread.
