Half doors are fairly common in the neighborhood yet in former days there was one on every house.
The materials used for fires, were turf, coal, wood, "shoves," or "shows" from the scutch mills and rough heather sods. The people nowadays burn coal, shoves, turf, and wood. Long ago the people in this district burn turf, and shoves and heather sods. They dig turn in the western part of Donegal. The people at the present day have candles, oil lamps, gas lamps, electric light for the light nowadays.
