The meeting was held after mid-night in a field beside the Newmills. The leader a man named Mac Cormack, had a pack of cards, and he said whatever two men would pull the two black aces, would have to do the shooting.
Each man drew a card, and the two men that got the two black aces were the names of Gallagher, and O'Donnell.
The next night the men set off to shoot the doctor. Each man had a gun with him. When they reached the doctor's he was not in bed, as he was waiting on a sick call.
The men rapped at the doctor's door. He came to open it, and one of the men shot him dead.
The two men then ran away, and some time later they escaped to America.
