  1. The people long ago used to make candles. They got rushes and they took the skin off them and left them past till the were dry. They would melt butter and they would put the rushes into the butter, when they had that done they put resin round it and they made candles. Then they made candle sticks out of wood and they would put the rush candle into the candle stick and as the candle burned down, they had a screw for screwing it up again. That was the only light they had, for
