  1. The food the people had long ago was different to the food we have now. Now there are bakeries in every town and these supply the town's - people and the country - people with bread. Long ago it was very different. The women made three kinds of bread. First was a kind of bread called 'boxty'. They grated raw potatoes with boiled ones without flour and put them on a pan to roast so when this was roasted it was black instead of white but it was good. Next
