  1. There is a line kiln at Porthall and Tober. The line-stone is first quarried and the stones are throwen into a cone shaped erection.

    This is usually 6ft in depth. When the line-stone is thrown in, the fires are lit, and burning until the line is ready when the stone is burned. The line is then ready for sale. The lime is "staked" before used, to take the 'fizzy' out of it.
