  1. There is at present a person living in Lifford who is reported to be able to cure heart fever. The cure was handed down to her from her brother Whittaker.
    The cure is performed by means of a red string which is put round the patients chest. The same litany of charms is chanted and the patient is cured. This habit of putting the string round the patients' chest has given rise to the expression, "oh, he's had measurements taken."
