  1. St Brighid’s Night
In the evening of St. Brighid’s Night when my father is done working he gets a hook and a creel and goes to where he can get good rushes. Then he cuts the rushes with the hook and puts them in the creel.
When he comes home he leaves the creel outside. After a while he takes in the creel and every one in the house makes crosses.
When the crosses are all made he leave them until the next day. Then he puts one in every room and one in every out-house. The crosses are left up until the next year. Then they are taken down, and new ones put up.
