  1. On St. Patrick's day the people wear shamrocks in their hats.
    Eggs are eaten on Easter Sunday. Hallow E'en night some boys throw cabbages, and turnips at doors. Some people leave the fire lit all night because they believe that departed souls come back that night.
    On New Year's Eve people sit up until they ring in the new year.
    Around Christmas a small crows of people gather together and dress up in old torn clothes, straw hats and false faces, and go round the houses singing or rhyming verses.
    These are called "mummers".
    On Palm Sunday, palms are also hung up in some houses.
    It is said that the witches come
