    About twenty years ago the people of this district were very cheery and funny besides what they are nowadays.
    Their chief past - time was making songs on each other and on places about the district.The following is the names of the songs which they made.

    Deep Sheephaven Bay.

    The Lanneleigh.
    Brogan of Melmore.
    Joe Power's Curragh.
    Thomas Black's Bull.

    From it I used to stray.
    And many a night when after girls,
    I crossed the Lanneleigh.
