    The children in olden times were fourteen years old and sometimes older before they wore shoes. My mother was fourteen years before she had any shoes.
    There was an old woman in my own town-land named Margaret McAlister and she never had on shoes, she always went about bare-footed.
    There was another old woman who lived in the town-land of Doaghmore named Bridget Carr and she never wore shoes.
    The children nowadays have on shoes when they are about two months old. Some of the children in this part run about in the bare feet in Summer. Most of the children at our school are on the bare
