    a week in the Summer time and about twice a week in the Winter time.
    My mother and Beth usually do the churning in the Summer time and my father helps in the Winter time.
    If a stranger comes into out house when we are churning they always wish good luck to the cows and milk.
    Our churn is a dash churn and when churning the staff moves up and down.
    Milk is supposed to be churned when the butter gathers nicely into a big lump.
    When the milk is churned the butter dish and butter spades are scalded with boiling water. Then they are rubbed with salt and then cooled with cold water. The butter is then lifted out of the churn with the spades into the butter dish.
