    then sold them. He carried the bottles in a meal bag. He always liked to scare children.
    When he would meet them he would shout at the top of his voice, throw down his bag and follow them. When John the Bottles would would get a night's lodgings in a house the people usually gave him a bag of chalf and a battle of straw to lie on and a few coats to put over him. At bedtime John would strip off all his clothes and get into the bag of chalf. He would lie there apparently very comfortable to the morning. Sometimes when he was drunk he would sing all night.
    Brian Livers went around from house to house begging and every person knew Brian. He used to get lodgings in Callaghan's of Gortnamonagh. Every morning first thing he would do was to strip off his clothes and wash himself
