For the murder of Lord Leitrim - one sunny April morn,
From house and home and kith and kin he ruthlessly was borne
On mere suspicion of the crime, of which it is confess'd
He was guiltless as the new-born upon its mother's breast.

Though lodged within a prison cell, his spirits still were gay;
He sang his sweetest songs therein, and whiled the time away;
