Holy wells were used for curing diseases and other ailments. The Doon well is near Kilmacrennan - a town in Donegal. There is another Holy Well in Burn's farm in Glenalla - a village in Donegal. There is an old story which says that Cathal O'Dogherty beat an army of soldiers after lying one night at the Doon Well.- Collector
