  1. I olden times the people used plant and flowers on certain ceremonies of the church. On Christmas Eve Holly and mistletoe are gathered and put up in the houses. It is kept up till the 6th January. Then it is taken down and thrown out.
    On St Brigid's night rushes are used for making crosses. If a person ties a rush round his head that night he will not take a sore head for a year. Primroses are uses on St. Brigid's night to keep away th fairies. They are thrown on the floor and the people of the house walk over them. I is said to keep away the fairies
