    Regattas of olden Days
    In olden times the regattas were better than they are now. There was a bigger crowd because there was no no hore racing in Buncranna and the people came across. The summers were better than the are now and the farmers had time to go to the regatta because they had their peats home and their hay in.
    There were horse races and bicycle races on the sand. There were boat races too. The people came from Ramelton in waggonettes because there were no buses. Boats ran from Tahan. There was a pig race at it. The(re) committee got a pig and put soot on it. Then it was let run who
