then they sometimes open a sheave and spread it on the top of the stack.
Some people put a bundle of hay on the top and tie it with wire. This is called "A Cock in Annie."
After the stack is built they make some ropes out of corn and they tie these ropes round the stack.
After the stacks are built they get some rushes and thatch them to prevent them getting wet. After they thatch the stacks they put more ropes round them to prevent the thatch coming off.
When the farmers need the corn they get a cart and bring the corn into the barn. Then the farmers get some one to cut the straps on the sheaves and give the corn to him. He leaves it on the feeding board and it passes through the threshing machine and some one gets a fork and builds it in a pile at the end of the thresher.
Some farmers get their corn threshed with a steam thresher which goes round the country. When the farmer has his corn all threshed he leaves it in the barn and he gives it to his animals in the winter.
