  1. Dress making is a common trade in this district.
    The first thing you need to do when making a dress is to take correct measure-ments, to cut the cloth correctly and to sew it neatly.
    A dressmaker generally tells the person she is making the dress for, to come back in a weeks time for a fit on and if it is not a good fit she then alters it until you are satisfied.
    A day may then finish it and you can have it home with you.
    A dressmaker charges a good bit for her work.
