- Some forty years ago there was an industry in Letterkenny known as Letterkenny Rope works owned by Gillispie Bros. The industry employed about five men and five boys in the manufacture of whipcord and rope.
The wares of this industry were hawked around the country by a horse and cart and sold to all the shops. A descendant of Gillispie Bros. still resides in Port Road, Letterkenny
