  1. Long ago matches were made in this district and some are made yet. Money was given as dowry to the man who getting married or sometimes stock or goods were given. Some time ago marriages took place in the bride's home.
    On the wedding morning before the vehicle started off an old shoe was tied on to the back end of it. This was supposed to be lucky. Shots were also fired on the wedding morning and sometimes there would be five or six men with guns standing along the road waiting for the vehicle to come.
