    St Columcille was born in Gartan in 521. In Gartan there are two beautiful lakes Upper Lough Gartan and Lower Lough Gartan.

    and from that to this a salmon was never caught in the Upper Lough.
    It is said that if a salmon is put into the Upper Lough a race horse could not catch it, it goes at such a rate, to get out of it again.
