    About two hundred years ago there lived in this district an old woman names Mrs Doohan. She had three daughters, Brigid, Shelia, and Grace.

    About two hundred years ago there lived in this district an old woman named Mrs. Doohan. She had three daughters. Brigid, Shelia, and Grace. One day they were all at work. Shelia was sewing, Brigid was knitting, and Grace was spinning.
    Old Mrs. Doohan was going out for water. When she went to the door she saw a horse in the garden. She came in again and said to Shelia “Go and put that horse out of the garden or he won’t leave us any cabbage for the cow.” Shelia took the needle with which she was sewing and went out.
    She hit the horse with it but both she and the needle stuck to him and away he went out of the garden; down a glen until he came to a large rock.
    When he reached it he said “Open.”
    The rock opened and the horse went in taking the girl with him. When they entered the kitchen [sic] the cat was washing the dishes; the tongs was putting on the fire and the dog was sweeping the floor.
