  1. There were Stewarts in Ards House. There were also Stewarts in Horn-Head and the Olpharts were in Falcarragh. The Stewarts were in Ards for almost two hundred years. The tenants always looked upon them as planters and robbers who took their lands by force, imposed rents on them and that they had no right in Ireland at all. There were plenty of evictions in the upper end of the parish. Most of all the evicted people left Ireland altogether and went to United States, but some of them went to live with friends.
