  1. Sir Peter Stuart Bam was the landlord of this - Ard's Estate. The estate was previously owned by the Stuart landlords. The heiress of the estate married Peter Bam a (South-African) and he took her name. The estate was bought by the Stuarts from the Rays. This estate was previously confiscated by the Cromwellian settlers. The landlords would not take the rent out of the tenants hand. They made them put it into a wooden box. It a tenant went to a land-lord's house and rang more than once he might be evicted.
    The Tithes were collected in this district until the Tithe collector Moore was driven out of Barnes Gap about a hundred
