  1. St Bridget's Eve =
    On St Bridget's night the people gather rushes and make rush crosses and it is usual for the people of this district to make a pot of mashed potatoes and place the rush cross under the pot. If there is any one in the house named Bridget she goes out and the rest of the people call her in and say "You are welcome dear Bridget you are welcome".
    May-day = Everybody makes a May-pole on that day
