    The February fair is the best for horses because many farmers are looking for horses for ploughing. The July fair is the gooseberry fair.

  2. Fairs were held in towns and villages long ago. Dealers in olden times went from house to house buying stock as is the custom yet. Different parts of the town are kept for - stalls, cows, horses, and pigs. When an animal is sold the seller gives so much money to the buyer. That money is called luckspenny.
    The buyer of an animal puts a special mark on the animal he has bought to distinguish it from other animals. The seller
