    In the Penal days one Father Kelly whose relatives live at Doe Castle yet, was hunted by the yeomanry. He crossed under the village of Creeslough crossed the new county road at Massinass and went over to the townland of Killmacloo. There he went into a house belonging to one Mr. Thompson, Mrs Thompson only being at home. This good woman hid the priest then ran out of the house to meet the yeos and told them the priest went up to the little wood ten minutes before. This is a fact known yet by the Kelly's and by David Thompson, Ballymore.

  2. There is a rock in Charlie Ward's land that got this name Cnoc Séanmhora after the Penal days.
    There is a hill in Kildarragh that the priests used to say mass on. A priest called Father Mc Fadden was arrested during the Penal days. The reason of his arrest was that he sided with the poor people and
