  1. Many years ago there lived two old bachelors in a backward part of Ireland. It was the custom that time for the parish priest to go to visit his hearers. One rainy day the priest went walking to visit these two old men. When he came in he put his umbrella on the floor to dry. When the priest spent a considerable time talking he said "I must go" and one of the conveyed hime over the lane.
    As they were walking away suddenly the priest exclaimed "I forgot my umbrella! Would you mind going back for it?" "Not at all said the old man and he went back for the umbrella. As the man was a long while away the priest went back to see what was keeping the man.
    When the priest reached the house he saw the men talking out the door jambs. "What are you doing that for?" said the priest. "Trying to get out your umbrella, father" said
