  1. Shortly after the Derryveagh Evictions old John George Adair died.
    His widow (daughter of the American General Wadsworth) as a mark of respect had a figure of his head with a suitable inscription carved on the auspicious rock near the castle.
    She was much pleased with the work when completed but next morning the rock which had been there for ages, fell over completely covering the piece of sculpture.
