  1. There is another story in connection with this quarry. Many years ago a man was going on a sick call for a doctor on horse back. As he was passing this quarry a little man got on behind him on the horse and rode on for some time.
    On his way the man met another man who asked him if he were not afraid of the fairy but the first man said he was not afraid. He had a piece of oatcake in his pocket which he offered to the fairy. The fairy took it and disappeared.
